September 11, 2003 KAN-ED Today I attended a meeting regarding KAN-ED in Hesston at the Public Library Section Conference. I found this session update to be very informative and I am taking a few moments to pass on my findings at this time. This is the first of two separate postings I will be making on KAN-ED today. The second posting will be in regards to KAN-ED Fiscal Year 2004. KAN-ED Subsidy 2003 Update This will be of interest to those libraries that applied for and received a subsidy check for KAN-ED 2003. If you have not received a check by now, you will not be receiving one as Subsidy Applications for 2003 have closed and all funds have been expended. IMPORTANT UPDATE ON USE OF FUNDS 1. What if our library is unable to spend their subsidy funds by December
1, 2003? 2. What if we have a small amount of funds left after purchasing everything? 3. What do we do with this survey that needs to be submitted by December 1, 2003? a. If you received a subsidy from KAN-ED in 2003 you should have received e-mail from Brad Williams, Operations Manager – KAN-ED. This e-mail contains a link to your survey. If you received your KAN-ED Subsidy check but still does not have this e-mail you might wish to contact Brad at: bwilliams@ksbor.org and request that he resend your subsidy survey. b. Complete it. This is a very short survey and can be completed and submitted in a rather short period of time. I highly encourage you to think about what you are planning to use your KAN-ED Subsidy funds for OR what you HAVE used them for prior to filling out the survey, as it will make completion of it much easier. Please be sure to print off your completed survey prior to submitting it and then file the copy for your records. For those of you who have requested our assistance with KAN-ED upgrades and consultation visits in regards to the subsidy funding please bear with me as I make my way around the system to meet with you. I will make every effort to expedite my visits to your library, but there is only one of me, so it will take some time. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Larry Papenfuss |
