Cataloging services include assistance with cataloging records for and classifying of library materials. MARC records are provided to member libraries using OCLC, original cataloging or other sources for bibliographic records. SCKLS may provide limited weeding assistance to member libraries.
Service Guidelines
SCKLS provides limited technical services including assistance with cataloging records for library materials and advises on the addition and deletion of bibliographic records in the Kansas Library Catalog. Help with determining Dewey Decimal classification for the shelving of materials is also available.Member Responsibilities
Member libraries may use the cataloging services of SCKLS, their own technical services or other service providers and vendors. A member library has the primary responsibility for providing its technical services including the ordering, cataloging of item records, and processing of library materials. Deletion of bibliographic records from the Kansas Library Catalog is also a member library responsibility.Staff and Resources
