The Rotating Collections Service selects and provides Public, Academic and Special member libraries who participate in this service with loans of:

  • Popular Fiction genres
  • Popular Non-Fiction subjects
  • Spanish language books
  • Large Print books
  • Children’s books
  • Books on Audio CD

Materials provided through the Rotating Collections Service are intended to supplement the collections of participating libraries. These materials are not to be a substitute for the participating library purchasing and maintaining a primary collection of library materials that meet the needs of local users.

Service Guidelines

SCKLS provides a collection of popular materials to Public, Academic and Special member libraries according to service guidelines. School library members are not eligible for the service.

Member Responsibilities

Member libraries agree to designate a representative or representatives to provide SCKLS with up-to-date contact information.

Member libraries agree that Rotating Collections Service materials are solely for the use of its registered borrowers and Rotating Collections Service materials are not available for interlibrary loan or for deposit or bulk loan to other individuals or entities.

Member libraries agree not to change or alter any physical features of Rotating Collections Service materials.

Member libraries agree to select a representative who must be on-site at the Participating Library at the dates and times of the scheduled Rotating Collection Service deliveries.

Member libraries agree that, prior to the delivery dates and times of scheduled Rotating Collection Service deliveries, Rotating Collection Service materials will be packed in boxes provided by SCKLS or other secure boxes.

Member libraries agree to make reasonable efforts for the return of Rotating Collection Service materials loaned to its registered borrowers. In the event of lost or damaged materials the Participating Library will contact Rotating Collections Service staff regarding the status of the items.

Failure by member libraries to abide by the conditions of this agreement will result in a formal written warning from SCKLS which may serve as basis for revocation of the service. Revocation of service and its duration is at the discretion of SCKLS.

The Rotating Collections Service no longer requires the use of return labels for Rotating Collections boxes. If you wish to use return labels, an optional template can be found by clicking here. The template is for Avery labels #5164 but you can also print on regular paper and cut and tape them over the labels already on the boxes. Just write in the name of your library in the From section of the label.
